Junior outfielder Ryan Messina (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) of the Shepherd University baseball team has been named to the 2013 Daktronics NCAA II All-America Baseball Team.

Senior midfielder Nicole Ruane (Sykesville, MD/Century) of the Shepherd University women’s lacrosse team will participate in the IWLCA Division II North-South All-Star game at Cabrini College in Randor, Pa. on Sunday May 26 as a member of the South squad. The game will begin at 12:45 p.m.

Junior outfielders Michael Lott (Woodbridge, VA/Woodbridge) and Ryan Messina (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) of the Shepherd University baseball team were named to the 2013 Rawlings/ABCA All-Region team. Lott earned first team honors, while Messina was a second team selection.

Junior outfielders Ryan Messina (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) and Michael Lott (Woodbridge, VA/Woodbridge) along with junior pitcher Paul Hvozdovic (Herndon, VA/Herndon) and freshman reliever Ryan Pansch (Charles Town, WV/Washington) of the Shepherd University baseball team were selected to All-Region teams.

Shepherd University head softball coach Leslie Lopez will be hosting the Mid-Atlantic Regional of the Junior Day Softball Prospect Camp & Showcase at Shepherd on June 19. This one-day event is for 2014 and 2015 high school graduates only. Coaches from George Washington University, George Mason University, Towson University, University of Hartford, and Susquehanna University will also be instructing. 

Five members of the Shepherd University softball team have been named to the 2013 All-WVIAC Softball team. Sophomore outfielder Tayler Schaefer (Dunkirk, MD/Northern) gained first team honors, while sophomore first baseman Savannah Snyder (Elkton, MD/Padua Academy) was a second team choice. Senior outfielder Bianca Biondillo (Canfield, OH/Canfield), junior catcher Carly Schmidt (Leesburg, VA/Heritage/Patrick Henry CC), and sophomore outfielder Shanan Plunkett (Hagerstown, MD/North Hagerstown) were honorable mention selections.

Fairmont State outslugged Shepherd University for a 10-8 win in WVIAC Baseball Tournament action at Linda K. Epling Stadium on Friday. The loss eliminates the Rams from the tournament.
 

Glenville State handed Shepherd University an 8-2 setback to eliminate the Rams at the WVIAC Softball Tournament at Jackson Memorial Park on Friday.

Senior tight end John Frick (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim) of the Shepherd University football team has been named to the 2013 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football seniors from all divisions of play who maintained a 3.2 GPA or better.

Senior catcher Chad Murphy (North Olmsted, OH/North Olmsted) of the Shepherd University baseball team has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Baseball Team.
 

West Virginia State held off Shepherd University for a 5-3 win in WVIAC Baseball Tournament action at Linda K. Epling Stadium on Thursday night.

Shepherd University went 1-1 in first day action of the WVIAC Softball Tournament at Jackson Memorial Park on Thursday. The Rams gained a 7-2 win over Charleston in an early game, while West Virginia State handed the Rams an 8-0 setback in a later contest.

Shepherd University rallied past Davis & Elkins for a 7-1 victory in WVIAC Baseball Tournament action at Linda K. Epling Stadium on Wednesday.
