SHEPHERD MEN FALL TO BOWIE STATE, 77-61 (12-17-2008)
BOWIE, Md. – Charles Richardson scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Bowie State University to a 77-61 win over Shepherd University in men’s basketball action at Bowie State on Wednesday night.
Armond Hill added 16 points and eight boards for the Bulldogs, while Curtis Massey chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Sophomore forward Liki Turner (Richmond, VA/Benedictine) led the Rams with 14 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Jonathan Motichka (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) added 13 points, while junior forward Tariq Uqdah (Lanham, MD/Montgomery-Germantown) added 11 points and five boards. Junior guard Tyrone Roach (Capitol Heights, MD/Montgomery-Germantown) contributed eight points and dished out a game-high six assists.
Bowie State shot 46.3 percent (25-54) from the floor while limiting Shepherd to a 35 percent (21-60) effort. The Bulldogs controlled the boards with a 45-26 rebounding advantage.
Shepherd drops to 1-7, while Bowie State improves to 5-4. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Penn State York for a 3 p.m. contest.
