Shepherd University Athletics

Excelled in baseball and later returned to coach the baseball and football teams.  Built a strong athletic foundation as head baseball and basketball coach at Shepherdstown High School.  Began coaching at Shepherd in 1940, during the difficult World War II years.  Was highly regarded by community and faculty for integrity and success under adverse circumstances.  In 1953 he guided the baseball team to a 14-6 record.
