Junior guard Briana Vaden (Stockton, Calif./San Joaquin Delta College) scored a game and career-high 22 points for the Rams, but #10 Glenville State used a balanced attack en route to a 119-76 win over Shepherd University in MEC women's basketball action at Glenville State on Saturday.
Vaden hit on 5-of-12 shots from the floor and had a 12-of-12 effort from the foul line. She added six rebounds and two steals.
Kenyona Simmons led seven Glenville State players in double figures with 18 points. Tasia Bistow, Kenyell Goodson, and Chanice Lee each added 13 points for the Lady Pioneers. Aesha Peters added a game-high 12 rebounds.
Glenville State used a 25-4 run to build up a 23-poiint midway in the first half to take control of the contest.
The Rams shot 39.4 percent (28-71) from the floor for the game, 26.5 percent (9-34) from three-point range, and 75.9 percent (18-21) from the line.
Glenville State connected at 42.7 percent (44-103) from the floor, 39.1 percent (9-23) from beyond the arc, and 87.5 percent (22-29) from the charity stripe.
The Lady Pioneers had a 62-45 advantage in rebounds. Shepherd forced 10 turnovers and committed 29.
Shepherd falls to 2-16, 2-12 in MEC action, while #10 Glenville State improves to 18-2, 13-1. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
