JACKSON SPRINGS, N.C. – The Shepherd University men's golf team fired a first-round total of 307 to rank in third place in a nine-team field at the Laker Spring Shootout at the Foxfire Resort and Golf Club on Friday. Sandhills Community College took the team lead with a 287. Alex Martin of Sandhills Community College fired a 68 to grab the first-round lead.
Freshman Morgan Dehoff (Rohrersville, Md./Boonsboro) led the Rams as he shot a 72 to rank third. He was followed by freshman Nop Satijavitisarn (Yannawa Bangkok, Thailand/International Community School) (75, T-7th), senior Chris Neighbors (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (76, T-9th), senior Mason Kidwell (Charles Town, W.Va.) (77, T-12th), freshman Joey Leisinger (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) (79, T-18th), and freshman Trey Rios (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) (81, T-25th).
The Rams return to action on Saturday for final-round play.
