Biography

2016: Appeared in all 14 games.  Named to All-MEC First Team as he posted a team second-best 99 tackles including 49 solo.  Also recorded 9.5 tackles-for-loss (-22 yards), one fumble recovery, one interception, three pass break ups, four quarterback hits and .5 sack for a five yard loss. Named to the 2016 D2CCA All-Super Region 1 Second Team.  Named to Don Hansen's Football Gazette All Super Region 1 Second Team Defense.

2015: Appeared and started in nine games. Earned first team All-MEC honors as he recorded 80 tackles (45 solo) with 4.5 tackles-for-loss (-10 yards). His 80 tackles were second on the team despite only playing in nine games. Gained MEC Defensive Player of the Week honors for Oct. 26 after a 14-tackle effort in a win over Concord. Garnered honorable mention All-America honors from Don Hansen's Football Gazette. Gained first team CCA and Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-Region accolades.

2014: Appeared and started in all 10 games. Gained MEC Defensive Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-MEC honors as he led the Rams with 69 tackles (36 solo). Added 3.5 tackles-for-loss and a sack (-3 yards). Recorded three pass breakups and an interception.

2013: Redshirted.

Personal: The son of James Gupton, Sr. and Yvette Gupton. A 2013 graduate of North Point HS, Gupton is a majoring in sport marketing.
