
Erica Snoddy tossed a perfect game for the Rams in game one.
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Freshman pitcher Erica Snoddy (Salem, OH/Lisbon David Anderson) tossed a perfect game in game one and added a win in relief in the nightcap to lead Shepherd University to a doubleheader sweep over Concord in WVIAC softball action at Shepherd on Sunday. The Rams took game one with a 17-0 win and earned a 10-2 triumph in the nightcap.
Shepherd (10-9, 6-2) plated 10 runs on eight hits in the first inning of game one. A two-run double by sophomore outfielder Amber Dudek (Sterling, VA/Park View) and two-run singles by Dudek and sophomore second baseman Cammie Orlandi (Owings, MD/Northern) highlighted the scoring barrage.
Senior outfielder Rae Johnson (Fredericksburg, VA/Colonial Forge HS) led the Rams with a 3-for-4 effort with a two-run homer. Snoddy added a 3-for-3 performance, while sophomore shortstop Courtni Williams (Charles Town, WV/Musselman) was 2-for-2 with three runs scored.
Snoddy fanned 10 and walked none to improve to 1-1. Jenny Reager took the loss for Concord (1-14, 0-2).
The Rams scored six runs in the first in the nightcap. A two-run triple from sophomore pitcher Nichole Pitcock (Sterling, VA/ Park View) and a two-run single by sophomore third baseman Caitlin Davis (Manassas, VA/Osbourn) fueled the rally.
Snoddy, Dudek, and freshman second baseman Delaney Bell (Glen Burnie, MD/Archbishop Spalding) each had a pair of hits for the Rams in the nightcap. Freshman catcher Kris Durham (Queen Anne, MD/Easton) and Davis both went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored.
Victoria Faulkner went 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run scored to pace Concord. Channing Daniels added a 1-for-2 effort and drove in a run.
Snoddy picked up the win in the nightcap in relief of Pitcock to improve to 2-1. Daniels took the loss for the Mountain Lions.
The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host Salem International for a 2 p.m. conference doubleheader.
Notes: Snoddy became the seventh player in program history to fire a a no-hitter. She joins Becca Hofman (3-21-98 vs. Shenandoah) as the only players to toss perfect games.
