SHEPHERD FOOTBALL ADDS FIFTEEN (3-31-2010)

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd University head football coach Monte Cater announced today that 15 more student-athletes have signed letters-of-intent to play football for the Rams in 2010. Among the group are nine from Maryland, four from Virginia, and two from West Virginia.

David Arndt (Martinsburg, WV/Martinsburg), a wide receiver, lettered in football and track for the Bulldogs. He had six receptions (all touchdowns) for 228 yards as a senior. He added two kick returns for 74 yards and recorded 20 tackles, three fumble recoveries, and two blocked kicks. His father, Doug Arndt, played for the Rams.

Jabril Baldwin (Upper Marlboro,MD/Dr. Henry A. Wise), a running back/defensive back, lettered in football and track at Wise. He rushed for over 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior.  He posted a 14-carry, 112-yard effort in the state championship game last year. Baldwin was also a Second Team All-League choice at cornerback.
Parris Baxter (Glenarden, MD/DuVal) , a wide receiver/defensive back, lettered in football, basketball, and track at DuVal. Baxter, An All-County selection was voted to participate in the 2009 Prince Georges's County-SMAC All-Star Game. Recorded 99 tackles, 8 forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries over his final two seasons.
A.J. Bonavitacola (Elkridge, MD/Howard), a running back, lettered in football and track at Howard. A First Team All-County and Honorable Mention choice as a senior, Bonavitacola  rushed for 3,300 yards and 32 touchdown over his career. He also had 500 receiving yards with six touchdowns and a kick return touchdown. He was a member of the state champion 4 X 100 meter relay team in 2009.
Christopher Burg (Martinsburg, WV/Martinsburg), a linebacker/defensive back, lettered in football and track at Martinsburg. A two-time All-Potomac Valley Conference selection, Burg recorded 100 tackles, three sacks, two pass breakups, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and an interception last season.
Trevon Butler (Upper Marlboro, MD/Dr. Henry A. Wise), a wide receiver, lettered in football and track at Wise. A Second Team All-County and Honorable Mention All-State choice as an all-purpose back, Butler was MVP at wide receiver at the Rivals.com Ultimate 110 Camp.  He participated in the 2009 Prince Georges's County-SMAC All-Star Game. 
Armani Dixon (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge), a wide receiver, lettered in football, basketball, and track at Marriotts Ridge. A First Team All-County selection, Dixon served as team captain. He was an honorable mention All-State honoree.
Kyle Gometz (Midlothian, VA/Cosby), an offensive lineman, was a two-year letterwinner in football. A team captain, Gometz did not give up a sack since becoming a starter as a junior. He earned All-District and Academic All-District honors.
De'Ontre Johnson (Upper Marlboro,MD/Dr.Henry A. Wise), a linebacker/fullback, was a member of the varsity football team at Wise for four years. A Second Team All-County selection, Johnson was a two-time Honorable Mention All-State choice. He was named Linebacker MVP at the Schuman's National Underclassmen Combine in 2009.
Dontrewell Kelley (District Heights, MD/Suitland), a defensive back/running back, lettered in football and track at Suitland. An Honorable Mention All-State choice, Kelley rushed for 870 yards and 12 touchdowns despite splitting time with two other running backs. He also had three interceptions on defense. A two-star recruit on Rivals.com, Kelley finished fourth in the 55 meters at the Maryland indoor track championships.
Joshua Labuhn (Leesburg, VA/Heritage), a defensive end, lettered in football and track at Heritage. A Second Team All-District choice, Labuhn recorded 48 tackles (35 solo), seven tackles-for-loss, and four sacks last season.
Benjamine LaNeve (Preston, MD/North Caroline), an offensive lineman, lettered in football and baseball at North Caroline.  An All-Conference choice in both sports, Laneue was a 2009 preaseason All-State honoree in football. He played in the 2004 Little League World Series.
Andre Makell (Upper Marlboro, MD/Dr. Henry A. Wise), a defensive back /wide receiver, lettered in football, basketball, and  track at Wise. A two-time MVP for the basketball team, Makell was an Honorable Mention All-State selection at defensive back.
Tarrell Owens (Sterling, VA/Potomac Falls), a wide receiver/defensive back, lettered in football, basketball, and track at Potomac Falls. Owens was a two-time All-District selection at both wide receiver and defensive back. He was a member of the 2010 regional champion basketball team for the Panthers.
Christopher Wood (Woodbridge, VA/C.D. Hylton), a defensive lineman, Wood was a two-time First Team All-District choice and a First Team All-Area selection last season. He recorded 25 tackles (10 solo), 10 tackles-for-loss, three sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and three pass breakups as a senior.
