SHEPHERD FOOTBALL ADDS FOURTEEN (3-29-2012)

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University head football coach Monte Cater announced today that 14 more student-athletes have signed letters-of-intent to play football for the Rams in 2012. Among the group are six from Maryland, six from Virginia, and two from West Virginia.
Jeremy Bell (Vienna, WV/Parkersburg), a tight end, lettered in football and basketball at Parkersburg. Bell was a first team All-State selection in football and an All-Conference choice in basketball. He set several receiving records at Parkersburg, including most career touchdown receptions and most receptions in a season.
Osiris Black (Stafford, VA/North Stafford), a defensive lineman, was a two-year letterwinner in football at North Stafford. Black was a member of the 2011 Commonwealth District and Northwest Region champion team at North Stafford.
 
Williams Bogolin (Lynchburg, VA/Rustburg), an offensive lineman, was a three-year letterwinner in football at Rustburg. A second team All-District selection, Bogolin also earned Titan 21 and Dirty Dozen honors in 2011.
Christopher Boteler (Manassas, VA/Osbourn), a kicker/punter, lettered four years in football and three in soccer at Osbourn. An All-State honoree, Boteler was a three-time All-District and All-Region selection. He was also a two-time All-Area choice. Boteler was 51-of-52 on extra points and 6-of-7 on field goals as a senior.
Bryant Currence (Kearneysville, WV/Washington), an offensive lineman, lettered four years in football and two in basketball at Washington. He was named Team Lineman of the Year in 2011. Currence, a three-time All-PVC honoree, gained first team honors in 2011.
Alex Figueroa (Stafford, VA/Brooke Point), a wide receiver/linebacker, was a two-time first team All-District and All-Area choice at Brooke Point. He also garnered All-Met accolades and was an Army All-American nominee.
Alex Fridley (Hagerstown, MD/Williamsport), a defensive lineman, lettered three years in football and one in basketball at Williamsport. He was a three-time All-Conference and a two-time honorable mention All-State selection. Fridley had 75 tackles (43 solo) with 22 tackles-for-loss, five sacks, and a pair of fumble recoveries last season.
Jaylen Johnson (Bowie, MD/Bowie), a defensive back/outside linebacker, lettered in football and track at Bowie. He gained second team All-Conference honors.
Jerry Lindsey (Lexington Park, MD/Great Mills), a defensive tackle, lettered in football and basketball at Great Mills. Lindsey was a two-time All-County choice as both a defensive and offensive lineman.
Christopher Mukasa (Ellicott City, MD/Howard), a defensive end, lettered three years in football and two in track at Howard. A two-year starter, he gained honorable mention All-County honors. Mukasa also served as a team captain.
Connor Simpson (Clifton Forge, VA/Alleghany), a linebacker, lettered in football and track at Alleghany. He was named All-Area Defensive Player of the Year and was a first team All-District and second team All-Region selection.
Deshawn Wells (Richmond, VA/Benedictine), a defensive back/wide receiver, lettered three years in football and two in basketball at Benedictine. He gained first team All-State honors at defensive back as a senior. Wells had 10 interceptions and 173 tackles over his junior and senior years. He also added 22 receptions and five touchdowns on offense.
Matthew Wicklein (Bowie, MD/Archbishop Spalding), a long snapper/offensive lineman, lettered three year in football and one in track at Archbishop Spalding. He was a two-time All-County and All-Conference choice. Wicklein served as a team captain and was named Special Teams Player of the Year.
Tyler Wise (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport), a wide receiver/safety, lettered in football and basketball at Williamsport. He gained first team All-County and All-Conference honors and honorable mention All-State honors. Wise also gained first team All-Area accolades in basketball. He holds the school records for most interceptions in a season (9) and career (11).
