JONES, FRICK GAIN BSN PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN HONORS (7-12-2012)

LEESBURG, Va. -- Junior defensive end Howard Jones (Woodbridge, VA/Freedom) and senior tight end John Frick (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim) of the Shepherd University football team have been named to the 2012 Beyond Sports College Network (BSN) D2 Preseason All-American Team.
Jones, a first team selection, recorded 31 tackles with 28 solo stops in 2011. He led the Rams with 23.5 tackles-for-loss and 12 sacks. His 23.5 tackles-for-loss for minus 128 yards established a new Shepherd single season records. He also added three forced fumbles and two blocked kicks. Jones was ranked third in NCAA II this year in tackles for loss (2.14 per game) and tied for fifth in sacks (1.09 per game). He also helped anchor a defense that was ranked first in total defense (254.64 per game) and rushing defense (63.91 per game).
Frick, an honorable mention choice, had 16 receptions for 296 yards and four touchdowns last season. His four touchdown receptions tied for the team lead.
The Rams open the 2012 season on the road when they face Shippensburg on September 1 at 1 p.m.
