Shepherd Volleyball Knocks Off West Liberty

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd University handed West Liberty a 3-1 loss in MEC volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday. The Rams recorded a 25-23, 25-20, 15-25, 25-20 win.

Senior outside hitter Melani Lewis (Bay Shore, N.Y./Brentwood) had 14 kills, while senior outside hitter Kayla Walker (Palmyra, VA/Fluvanna County) added 13 to pace the Rams.
Junior setter Taylor Belella (Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg) had 27 assists and four digs. Freshman Tommie Jo David (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown) contributed 18 assists and five digs.
Chelsea Bertie had 11 kills, while Chelsea Byrge added 24 assists and 10 digs to lead the Hilltoppers.
Shepherd falls to 8-8, 4-2 in MEC action, while West Liberty. The Rams return to action on Friday when they host West Virginia State for a 7 p.m. match.
