SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University rallied from a 25-point second half deficit to get to within five points in the game's final minute, but Slippery Rock held on for a 76-68 win in the Clarion Hotel Conference Challenge at the Butcher Center on Sunday.
Maurice Lewis-Briggs scored 20 points and had six rebounds to lead Slippery Rock. Tabari Perry added 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Shepherd shot 36.6 percent (26-71) from the floor with a 20.7 percent (6-29) effort from three-point range. The Rams hit on 10-of-13 free throws (76.9 percent).
Slippery Rock shot 62 percent (31-50) from the floor with a 6-of-14 effort (42.9 percent) from beyond the arc. The Rock connected on 8-of-20 free throws (40 percent).
Slippery Rock had a 43-32 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 23 turnovers, while committing 12.
The Rams went on a 29-11 run to cut the Slippery Rock lead to 69-64 with 42 seconds remaining. Cunningham had 14 points and Osborne added 10 to fuel the run.
The Rock got a pair of layups and hit 3-of-4 free throws in the final seconds to secure the win.
Shepherd drops to 1-1, while Slippery Rock improves to 1-1. The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Shippensburg to face Mercyhurst at 3 p.m. in the Wolf Bus Line Classic.
