Shepherd Men Knock Off Mercyhurst

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shepherd University handed Mercyhurst a 72-62 setback at the Wolf's Bus Lines Classic at Shippensburg on Friday.
Freshman Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to pace the Rams. He also added five assists and four steals. Senior guard Brantley Osborne (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) fired in a team-high 16 points. He also had five boards, four assists, and five steals.
Junior forward Morgan McDonald (Inwood, WV/Musselman) recorded 14 points and five rebounds, while junior guard Austin Cunningham (Belpre, OH/Ohio Valley) added 11 points and five boards.
Jonathan Ouegnin had 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists to lead Mercyhurst. Greg Williams added 17 points and eight rebounds.
Shepherd shot 47.5 percent (29-61) from the floor with a 31.3 percent (5-16) effort from three-point range. The Rams hit on 9-of-14 free throws (64.3 percent).
Mercyhurst shot 40.9 percent (27-66) from the floor with a 3-of-12 effort (25 percent) from beyond the arc. The Lakers connected on 5-of-18 free throws (27.8 percent).
Mercyhurst had a 43-40 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 19 turnovers, while committing 18.
Shepherd improves to 2-1, while Mercyhurst drops to 0-1. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they face host Shippensburg at 8 p.m. in final day action of the Wolf Bus Line Classic.
