Shepherd Men Defeat Shippensburg at Wolf's Bus Lines Classis

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Junior guard Austin Cunningham (Vincent, OH/Ohio Valley) scored a team-high 19 points and junior forward Morgan McDonald (Inwood, WV/Musselman) added 16 points and 16 rebounds to lead Shepherd University to an 86-73 win over Shippensburg at the Wolf's Bus Lines Classic at Shippensburg on Saturday.
Freshman Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Senior guard Brantley Osborne (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy), who was named Tournament MVP, had 13 points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
McDonald was also named to the All-Tournament Team.
Joe Lococo had 33 points and nine rebounds to lead the Red Raiders.
Shepherd shot 41.8 percent (28-67) from the floor with a 17.6 percent (3-17) effort from three-point range. The Rams hit on 27-of-40 free throws (67.5 percent).
Shippensburg shot 41.3 percent (26-63) from the floor with a 4-of-15 effort (26.7 percent) from beyond the arc. The Red Raiders connected on 17-of-26 free throws (65.4 percent).
Shepherd had a 51-36 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 14 turnovers and committed 14.
Shepherd improves to 3-1, while Shippensburg drops to 0-2. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Glenville State for a 4 p.m. game.
