Seton Hill Downs Shepherd Women

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Katie Gattuso scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Seton Hill to a 72-62 win over Shepherd University in women's basketball action at the Carol Eckman Memorial Tournament on Saturday.
Junior center Gabby Flinchum (North Potomac, MD/Wootton) had 20 points and eight rebounds to lead the Rams. Freshman forward Liz Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Junior guard Briana Vaden (Stockton, Calif./San Joaquin Delta College) and freshman guard Cara Mason (Monrovia, MD/Urbana) each added nine points.
Paige Alviani added 25 points, eight rebounds, and five assists for the Griffins.
The Rams shot 35.1 percent (26-74) from the floor, 22.2 percent (4-18) from three-point range, and 85.7 percent (6-7) from the line.
The Griffins hit at 30.6 percent (22-72) from the floor, 20 percent (5-25) from beyond the arc, and 67.6 percent (23-34) from the charity stripe.
Seton Hill had a 54-52 edge on the boards. Shepherd forced 11 turnovers and committed 19.
Shepherd falls to 0-3, while Seton Hill improves to 3-0. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Glenville State at 2 p.m.
