SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Lindsay Stamp scored a game-high 20 points to lead Indiana University of Pennsylvania to 78-53 win over Shepherd University in women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Monday night.
Marita Mathe added 12 points, while Leslie Stapleton tossed in 10 for the Crimson Hawks.
Junior guard Alex Weakland (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) fired in a team-high 13 points off the bench. She hit on 3-of-5 three pointers and was 4-for-4 from the foul line.
IUP shot 53.3 percent from the floor in the first half and limited the Shepherd to a 20 percent shooting effort to take a 44-19 lead into the break. Both teams netted 34 points in the second half.
The Rams shot 27.5 percent (14-51) from the floor for the game, 25 percent (3-12) from three-point range, and 75.9 percent (22-29) from the line.
The Crimson Hawks hit at 46.8 percent (29-62) from the floor, 31.8 percent (7-22) from beyond the arc, and 59.1 percent (13-22) from the charity stripe.
Indiana (Pa.) had a 46-37 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced 20 turnovers and committed 24.
Shepherd falls to 1-5, while Indiana (Pa.) improves to 6-0. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to West Virginia State for a 5:30 p.m. conference matchup.
