Shepherd Football Downs West Virginia Wesleyan, 45-10

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Sophomore running back Allen Cross (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) rushed 16 times for 82 yards and two touchdowns, while junior quarterback Trae Tinsman (Winchester, Va./James Wood) connected on 11-of-15 passes for 220 yards and a pair of scores to lead Shepherd University to a 45-10 win over West Virginia Wesleyan in Mountain East Conference football action at Cebe Ross Field on Saturday.
Shepherd took a 7-0 lead with 11:17 left in the first quarter when Cross went in from two yards out. Sophomore kicker Ryan Earls (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) added the extra point.
Redshirt-freshman running back Jabre Lolley (Wilmington, Del./St. Marks) scored on a one-yard plunge with 6:28 left in the first quarter to give the Rams a 14-0 lead.
Earls connected on a 20-yard field goal with 56 second in the first quarter to increase the lead to 17-0.
Cross scored on a two-yard run with 2:47 left in the second quarter to up the lead to 24-0.
Tinsman teamed with senior wide receiver Robert Byrd (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) on a 24-yard scoring strike with 58 seconds left in the half.
Tinsman later teamed with Cross on a 55-yard scoring play with 11:59 left in the third quarter to give the Rams a 38-0 advantage.
The Bobcats got on the scoreboard with 9:14 left in the third quarter on a 33-yard field goal by Kasper Bernild.
West Virginia Wesleyan cut the lead to 38-10 when Connor Arlia teamed with LaVaughn Hughes on a five-yard pass with 1:50 left in the third quarter.
Shepherd closed out the scoring when Lolley bulled his way into the end zone with 39 seconds left in the contest.
Lolley added 65 yards on 11 carries for the Rams.
Byrd had four receptions for 68 yards to lead the Shepherd receivers.
Shepherd amassed 449 yards of total offense, while West Virginia Wesleyan had 160. Shepherd limited the Bobcats to minus 14 yards rushing.
Junior outside linebacker De'Ontre Johnson (Upper Marlboro, MD/Dr. Henry A. Wise) led the Rams with five tackles (four solo). Charlie Jordan had a game-high seven tackles (all solo) for the Bobcats.
Shepherd improves to 4-0, 3-0 in MEC action, while West Virginia Wesleyan falls to.1-3, 1-2. The Rams return to action next Saturday when they host University of Charleston for Homecoming at noon.

Allen Cross led the Rams with 82 rushing yards.
