 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Makenzie Cluesman scored a  game-high 23 points to lead UVa-Wise 73-58 win over Shepherd University in MEC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.
 Cluesman added eight rebounds and five assists.
 Katie Jo Lester had 14 points, while Makenzie Hensley contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers.
 The Rams shot 30.9 percent (21-68) from the floor for the game, 33.3 percent (6-18) from three-point range, and 58.8 percent (10-17) from the line. 
 UVa-Wise connected at 43.5 percent (27-62) from the floor, 26.3 percent (5-19) from beyond the arc, and 51.9 percent (14-27) from the charity stripe.
 The Cavaliers had a 50-47 edge in rebounds. Shepherd forced 19 turnovers and committed 18.
 Shepherd had a 37-30 lead at halftime.
 The Cavaliers opened the second half on a 13-0 run and the Rams would not be able to recover. Cluesman had six points during the run.
 Shepherd falls to 2-10, 2-6 in MEC action, while UVa-Wise improves to 7-5, 3-5. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host Concord for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
