URBANA, Ohio – Junior forward Morgan McDonald (Inwood, WV/Musselman) scored a game and career-high 23 points and added a game-high 16 rebounds to lead Shepherd University to a 93-72 over Urbana in MEC men's basketball action at Urbana on Monday night.
McDonald was 6-of-11 from the floor with a 1-of-3 effort from three-point range. He was 10-of-11 from the charity stripe. McDonald added two assists and a pair of steals.
Senior guard Brantley Osborne(Sunbury, Pa/Shikellamy) added 12 points, six rebounds, and a game-high six assists.
Mike Dorceus had 13 points and seven rebounds, while Casey Baker added 12 points and 15 boards to pace the Blue Knights.
Shepherd shot 52.6 percent (30-57) from the floor with a 33.3 percent (6-18) effort from three-point range. The Rams connected on 27-of-33 free throws (81.8 percent).
Urbana shot 43.5 percent (27-62) from the floor with a 6-of-12 effort (50 percent) from beyond the arc. The Blue Knights hit on 12-of-25 free throws (48 percent).
Urbana had a 38-37 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 15 turnovers and committed 12.
Shepherd improves to 10-2, 5-1 in conference action, while Urbana falls to 0-10, 0-6. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host top-ranked West Liberty for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
