SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Makenzie White scored 25 points and Hailey Garrett added 18 to lead Fairmont State to a 91-78 win over Shepherd University in MEC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Thursday.

center Gabby Flinchum (North Potomac, MD/Wootton) tied White for game-high scoring honors with 25 points to pace the Rams. She hit on 8-of-12 field goals with a 9-of-12 effort from the foul line. Flinchum added game-highs of 11 boards and five blocked shots.
Emily Lohr had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Falcons.
The Rams shot 41.5 percent (27-65) from the floor for the game, 0 percent (0-5) from three-point range, and 77.4 percent (24-31) from the line.
Fairmont State connected at 48.6 percent (36-74) from the floor, 41.2 percent (7-17) from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent (12-18) from the charity stripe. The Rams had a 40-36 edge in rebounds. Shepherd forced 12 turnovers and committed 13.
Shepherd falls to 2-13, 2-9 in MEC action, while Fairmont State improves to 8-5, 6-4. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host West Virginia State for a 2 p.m. contest.
