Box Score INSTITUTE, W.Va.  –  Shepherd University downed West Virginia State, 3-1,  in MEC volleyball action at West Virginia State on Friday night. The Rams gained a 25-21, 25-8, 17-25, 25-9 victory.

Senior opposite/outside hitter Valerie Bour (Willoughby Hills, Ohio/Willoughby South) had 15 kills and 10 digs to lead the Rams. Senior middle hitter Katie Beecher (Concord, NC./Concord/Liberty) added 12 kills.

Senior setter Taylor Belella (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) had 34 assists and junior outside hitter/libero Samantha Scroggins (Plainfield, Ill./Naperville North/Kishwaukee College) (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) contributed match-highs of 19 digs and four aces. Freshman libero/defensive specialist Kelsey Anderson (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) recorded 17 digs.

Anneelise  Albrecht  had six kills, eight assists, and five digs to lead the Yellow Jackets.

Shepherd improves to 13-6, 6-2 in MEC play, while West Virginia State falls to 4-13, 2-6.  The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Charleston for a 2 p.m. match.
