Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) scored a game-high 30 points to lead Shepherd University to a 109-98 win over Glenville State in MEC women's basketball action at Glenville State on Saturday.
Arden hit on 9-of-16 shots from the floor. She connected on 12-of-15 free throws.
Senior guard
Rachel Johnson (Frederick, Md./Frederick) added 23 points, while senior guard
Briana Vaden (Stockton, Calif./McNair/San Joaquin Delta College) tossed in 14. They each grabbed eight rebounds.
Sophomore forward
Liz Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) posted a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Sophomore forward
Kristina Prange (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) was also in double figures with 12 points.
Sophomore guard
Cara Mason (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) had eight points and a game-high eight assists and senior guard
Alex Weakland (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) contributed seven points and seven boards.
Keyanna Tate scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Glenville State. La'Shaughn Jones grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
Shepherd shot 54.5 percent (42-77) from the floor with a 100 percent effort (1-1) from three-point range. The Rams shot 75 percent (24-32) from the charity stripe.
Glenville State connected on 34.8 percent (32-92) from the floor with a 22.6 percent (7-31) performance from beyond the arc. The Pioneers drained 67.5 percent (27-40) of their free throws.
The Pioneers had a 58-51 edge on the boards.
Shepherd improves to 3-0, 1-0 in MEC action, while Glenville State falls to 0-2, 0-1. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
