Box Score INDIANA, Pa. – Leslie Stapleton scored a game-high 20 points to lead Indiana University of Pennsylvania to an 85-52 win over Shepherd University in women's basketball action at IUP on Wednesday. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak to open the season for the Rams.
Sophomore forward
Liz Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) led the Rams with 16 points and seven rebounds. She hit on 5-of-10 field goals and 6-of-10 free throws.
Senior guard
Alex Weakland (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added 10 points and tied sophomore guard
Cara Mason (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) with a team-high three assists. Mason also hauled down a team-high eight boards.
Lindsay Stamp had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Indiana (Pa.). Ashley Stoner added 16 points and nine rebounds.
Shepherd shot 25.8 percent (16-62) from the floor with a 22.2 percent effort (2-9) from three-point range. The Rams shot 64.3 percent (18-28) from the charity stripe.
IUP connected on 38.9 percent (28-72) from the floor with a 33.3 percent (8-24) performance from beyond the arc. The Crimson Hawks hit on 77.8 percent (21-27) of their free throws.
Indiana (Pa.) had a 61-38 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 16 turnovers and committed 13.
Shepherd falls to 4-1, while IUP improves to 5-0. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host California University of Pennsylvania for a 7 p.m. contest.
