Box Score INSTITUTE, W.Va. --  Sophomore quarterback Jeff Ziemba (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) completed 15-of-29 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns, while sophomore running back Jabre Lolley (Wilmington Del./St. Mark's) and junior running back Allen Cross (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) each rushed for over 100 yards to lead Shepherd University to a 24-10 win over West Virginia State in MEC football action at West Virginia State on Saturday.

State took a 7-0 when Matt Kinnick teamed with on a 24-yard scoring pass with Quinton Gray with 6:58 left in the first quarter.

Shepherd answered back when sophomore quarterback Jeff Ziemba (Wilmington,  Del./St. Mark's) connected on a 10-yard scoring pass with sophomore wide receiver Tony Squirewell (Cheltenham, Md./Bishop McNamara) with 1:56 left in the first quarter.

Shepherd took a 10-7 lead when junior kicker Mark Murphy (Queenstown, Md./Queen Anne's County) connected on a 34-yard field goal with 6:06 left in the second quarter.

The Yellow Jackets tied the game at 10-all when former Ram Cory Broughton connected on a 23-yard field goal with 3:34 left in the second quarter.

The Rams took a 17-10 lead into the break as Ziemba teamed with sophomore wide receiver Billy Brown (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) on a 25-yard scoring pass with 51 seconds left in the half.

Shepherd completed the scoring when Lolley scored on a two-yard plunge with 4:17 left in the third quarter.

Matt Kinnick completed 21-of-40 passes for 239 yards for West Virginia State.

Brown led the Shepherd receivers with six receptions for 133 yards. Shanin Bennefield had five catches for 107 yards for the Yellow Jackets.

Lolley rushed for 149 yards on 22 carries, while Cross added 135 yards on 21 carries for the Rams.

Shepherd totaled 544 yards of total offense with 317 rushing yards. West Virginia State had 239 yards of total offense with just 23 yards on the ground.

Redshirt -freshman linebacker James Gupton (Waldorf, Md./North Point), senior outside linebacker De'Ontre Johnson (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry A. Wise), and sophomore cornerback/return CJ Davis (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) each recorded  a team-high eight tackles for the Rams. Trent Williamson had 10 tackles to lead the Yellow Jackets.

Shepherd improves to 8-1, 8-1 in conference play, while West Virginia State falls  to 2-8, 1-8.  The Rams return to action next Saturday when they host Concord for Senior Day/Military Appreciation Day for a noon contest.
