Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Miki Glenn scored 22 points and Emma Mahady added 20 to lead #22 California University of Pennsylvania to an 91-57 win over Shepherd University in women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Monday night.
Shepherd was led by freshman guard
Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) who tossed in 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Arden connected on 8-of-15 shots from the floor with a 4-of-5 effort from the foul line.
Sophomore guard
Cara Mason (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) and senior guard
Alex Weakland (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) each added nine points. Mason also dished out a game high six assists.
Lana Doran had 15 points and Kaitlynn Fratz added 13 for California (Pa.).
Cal opened the game on a 23-4 run and took a 45-29 lead into the break.
Shepherd closed to within 15 points at 68-43 after a pair of free throws by Arden with 8:44 left in the contest, but would get no closer.
Shepherd shot 36.1 percent (22-61) from the floor with a 37.5 percent effort (3-8) from three-point range. The Rams shot 76.9 percent (10-13) from the charity stripe.
Cal connected on 46.5 percent (33-71) from the floor with a 23.1 percent (3-13) performance from beyond the arc. The Vulcans drained 84.6 percent (22-26) of their free throws.
The Vulcans had a 47-29 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 16 turnovers and committed 20.
Shepherd falls to 4-2, while California (Pa.) improves to 5-1. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host West Virginia State at 5:30 p.m.for the 3D Thursday contest.
