Box Score ERIE, Pa. – Adam Blazek had 27 points and five assists to lead Gannon University to a 74-56 win over Shepherd University in men's basketball action at Gannon on Saturday.
Blazek hit on 11-of-17 shots from the floor with a 5-of-8 effort from three-point range.
Girbran Smith added 18 points and A'Darius Porter had 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for the Golden Knights.
Senior guard
Austin Cunningham (Vincent, Ohio/Warren Local/Ohio Valley) led the Rams with 12 points, while junior forward
Ryan McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Presbyterian) tossed in 10.
Sophomore guard
Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) added eight points, while freshman guard
Skyler Roman Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) handed out a team-high five assists.
Shepherd hit on 19-of-41 field goals (46.3 percent) with a 3-of-15 (20 percent) effort from three-point range. The Rams drained 15-of-16 free throws (93.8 percent).
Gannon connected on 30-of-57 field goals (52.6 percent) with an 8-of-21 effort (38.1 percent) from beyond the arc. The Golden Knights were 17-of-22 from the foul line (77.3 percent).
Gannon had a 30-21 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced 11 turnovers and committed 14.
Shepherd falls to 5-3, while Gannon improves to 5-4. The Rams return to action next Wednesday when they host Davis & Elkins for a 7 p.m. contest.
