Box Score MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Alisha Mobley scored 18 points and Rachel Gostomski added 16 to lead Chowan University to a 76-58 win over Shepherd University in women's basketball action at Chowan on Wednesday.

Mobley also grabbed 10 rebounds for the Hawks. Summer Curtis added 10 points and 14 rebounds, while Jordan Payne had seven points and 11 boards.

Senior guard Rachel Johnson (Frederick, Md./Frederick) led the Rams with 14 points. Sophomore guard Cara Mason (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) added nine points, while sophomore forward Hailey Brown (Annandale, Va./Annandale) chipped in with eight points off the bench.

Senior guard Briana Vaden (Stockton, Calif./McNair/San Joaquin Delta College) grabbed a team-high six rebounds and freshman guard Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) handed out a team-high five assists.

Chowan had a 32-30 lead at the break behind 11 first half points from Gostomski.

The Hawks opened the second half on a 20-8 run to take a 14-point lead at 52-38 with 12:28 remaining and take control of the contest.

Shepherd shot 34.8 percent (24-69) from the floor with a 26.1 percent effort (6-23) from three-point range. The Rams shot 80 percent (4-5) from the charity stripe.

Chowan connected on 37.1 percent (26-70) from the floor with a 20 percent (2-10) performance from beyond the arc. The Hawks hit on 61.1 percent (22-36) of their foul shots.

Chowan had a 60-39 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 11 turnovers and committed 16.

Shepherd falls to 7-3, while Chowan improves to 3-6. The Rams are idle until Jan. 3 when they host Notre Dame College for a 2 p.m. contest.
