Shepherd Baseball Sweeps Glenville State

GLENVILLE, W.Va.Shepherd University swept Glenville State in MEC baseball doubleheader action at Glenville on Sunday. The Rams earned a 12-1 win in game one and added another 12-1 triumph in the nightcap. The Rams extend their winning streak to 13 games.
Freshman second baseman Jacob Carney (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs and senior outfielder Kyle Porter (Baltimore, Md./Good Counsel/CCBC) added a 3-for-5 effort with three runs scored to lead the Rams in game one.
Senior outfielder Michael Lott (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while junior third baseman Spencer Wolfe (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown/USC Aiken) added a 1-for-1 effort with three RBIs and three runs scored.
Junior starter Austin Hale (Nokesville, Va./Frederick CC) (6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 8 K, 2 BB) (5-1) gained the win for the Rams.
Lott went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Porter belted a three-run homer and drove in four runs to pace the Rams in the nightcap.
Sophomore pitcher Ryan Pansch (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (4.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 Ks, 2 BB) (2-3) earned the win. Redshirt freshman pitcher Mac West (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) (3.0 IP, 1 H 0 R, 5 Ks, 1 BB) gained the save.
Shepherd improves to 22-7, 20-4 in conference play, while Glenville State falls to 4-23, 4-19. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Notre Dame College for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
