Box Score 2 WHEELING, W.Va. – Shepherd University dropped a pair of matches in volleyball action at the Wheeling Jesuit Tournament on Friday. The Rams dropped a 3-1 (23-25, 27-25, 23-25, 16-25) to undefeated Lock Haven and later dropped a heartbreaker in five sets to LIU Post (25-21, 22-25, 11-25, 22-18,14-16).
Senior right side
Valerie Bour (Willoughby Hills, Ohio/Willoughby South) had 11 kills and 13 digs, while freshman right side/setter
Kayleigh Helgesen (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino ) had a match-high 12 kills and four blocks against Lock Haven.
Junior outside hitter
Samantha Scroggins (Plainfield, Ill./Naperville North/Kishwaukee College) had a team-high 20 digs, while senior setter
Taylor Belella (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) contributed 32 assists.
Cody Anderson had 11 kills to pace Lock Haven.
Helgesen had 17 kills and Bour added 14 to lead the Rams against the Pioneers. Junior right side/libero
Taylor Allen (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) had 17 digs, while Belella had 41 assists.
Danielle Valenza had 19 kills and 17 digs to lead LIU Post.
Shepherd moves to 3-3, Lock Haven improves to 5-0, while LIU Post is now 3-3. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they face Le Moyne at noon in final day action of the Wheeling Jesuit Tournament.
