Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University rallied from match point in the third set to gain a 3-2 win over Fairmont State in MEC volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Tuesday night. The Rams rallied for a 17-25, 25-27, 27-25, 25-23, 15-9 victory.
Senior opposite/outside hitter
Valerie Bour (Willoughby Hills, Ohio/Willoughby South) had 15 kills and 14 digs, while senior middle hitter
Katie Beecher (Concord, NC./Concord/Liberty) added 14 kills to lead the Rams. Freshman opposite
Kayleigh Helgesen (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino) had 10 kills.
Senior setter
Taylor Belella (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) added 48 assists and six digs. Junior outside hitter/libero
Samantha Scroggins (Plainfield, Ill./Naperville North/Kishwaukee College) contributed a team-high 17 digs. Freshman libero/defensive specialist
Kelsey Anderson (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) posted 14 digs, while junior outside hitter
Taylor Allen (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) added 13.
Kaitlyn Witsaman had 19 kills and 13 digs and Erin Harwood added 14 kills and 16 digs to lead the Falcons.
Shepherd improves to 10-5, 4-1 in MEC play, while Fairmont State falls to 12-3, 4-1. The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to West Liberty for a 7 p.m. match.
