Box Score MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Shepherd University handed host Chowan University an 8-0 setback in women's soccer action at Chowan in the season opener for both schools on Thursday.
Shepherd took a 5-0 lead into the break behind first half goals by freshman forward

Angela Labella (Frederick, Md/Urbana) had the only assist on the day.
Sophomore
Anna Mueller (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) (one save) and freshman
Catelynn Moore (Penn Laird, Va./Spotswood) combined on a shutout effort for the Rams. Marissa Ghani (9) and Monica Hayward (3) teamed for 12 saves for the Hawks.
Shepherd held a 44-1 advantage in shots and an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.
Shepherd moves to 1-0 on the year , while Chowan falls to 0-1. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Ursuline for an 11;30 a.m. contest.
