Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C.  – Shepherd University dropped a 25-27, 19-25, 25-20, 19-25 decision to Georgia College in season-opening volleyball action at the Pfeiffer Tournament on Friday.

Senior right side Valerie Bour (Willoughby Hills, Ohio/Willoughby South) led the Rams with 19 kills and 10 digs. Freshman right side/setter Kayleigh Helgesen (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino) added 11 kills.

Senior middle hitter Kayla Motheral (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) had six kills and a match-high six blocks, while freshman libero/defensive specialist Kelsey Anderson (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) recorded 10 digs. Senior setter Taylor Belella (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) contributed 24 assists.

Maggie Roper had 16 kills and 15 digs to lead Georgia College.

Shepherd falls to 0-1, while Georgia College improves to 1-0. The Rams return to tournament action on Saturday when they take on host Pfeiffer at 10 a.m. and Slippery Rock at noon.
