Concord Downs Shepherd Men

Box Score ATHENS, W.Va. –  Aaron Miller scored a game-high 35 points to lead Concord to an 80-74 win over Shepherd University in MEC men's basketball action at Concord on Monday night.

Junior forward Ryan McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Presbyterian) led the Rams with 17 points on a 6-of-8 shooting effort with a 4-of-6 effort from three-point range. He was 1-of-3 from the charity stripe.

Senior forward Morgan McDonald (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) and senior guard Austin Cunningham (Vincent, Ohio/Warren Local/Ohio Valley) each added 15 points. Cunningham dished out a game-high nine assists, while McDonald tied freshman forward Gavin McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Bridgton Academy) with a team-high seven rebounds.

Jametrius Wade added 14 points, while Mike Boyd tossed in 13 for the Mountain Lions.

Concord had a 37-32 lead at halftime.

The Mountain Lions led the entire second half and held a 13-point lead with 1:46 left to help the hold on for the six-point victory.

Shepherd hit on 27-of-61 field goals (44.3 percent) with an 8-of-22 (36.4 percent) effort from three-point range. The Rams connected on 12-of-20 free throws (60 percent).

Concord connected on 31-of-58 field goals (53.4 percent) with a 7-of19 effort (36.8 percent) from beyond the arc. The Mountain Lions were 11-of-18 from the foul line (61.1 percent).

Concord had a 39-35 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 13 turnovers and committed 13.

Shepherd falls to 10-5, 5-4 in MEC play, while Concord improves to 9-5, 5-4. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Wheeling Jesuit for a 4 p.m. contest.
