Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Donte Morales scored a game-high 30 points to lead Glenville State to an 82-76 win over Shepherd University in MEC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.
Morales hit on 11-of-15 field goals with a 3-of-5 effort from three-point range. He was 5-of-8 from the charity stripe. Morales also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
Junior forward
Ryan McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Presbyterian) scored a career-high 26 points to pace the Rams. He was 10-of-13 from the floor with a 6-of-7 effort from beyond the arc. McTavish also handed out four assists.
Senior guard
Austin Cunningham (Vincent, Ohio/Warren Local/Ohio Valley) tossed in 18 points, while senior forward
Morgan McDonald (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) added 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Freshman guard
Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) contributed nine points and handed out a game and career-high six assists.
Sedric Nady added 13 points for the Pioneers, while Brett Morris had 12.
The game was tied at 39-39 at halftime.
The contest featured 16 lead changes and nine ties.
Shepherd tied the game at 70-all on a layup by sophomore guard
Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) with 2:30 left in the contest. The Pioneer s retook the lead at 71-70 with 2:17 remaining as Brien Winston hit 1-of-2 free throws. Glenville took control of the game in its next two possessions with a pair of free throws from Morales and a three-pointer from Nady to gain a six-point lead and hold on for the victory.
Shepherd hit on 27-of-52 field goals (51 percent) with an 11-of-22 effort (50 percent) effort from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 16-of-22 free throws (76.5 percent).
Glenville State connected on 26-of-51 field goals (51 percent) with a 12-of-25 effort (48 percent) from beyond the arc. The Pioneers were 13-of-17 from the foul line (72.7 percent).

Shepherd had a 31-24 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 14 turnovers and committed 19.
Shepherd falls to 11-9, 6-8 in MEC play, while Glenville State improves to 16-4, 12-2. The Rams return to action on Monday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 7:30 p.m. game.
