Shepherd Women's Soccer Rallies Past Wheeling Jesuit

Box Score WHEELING, W.Va. – Shepherd University rallied past Wheeling Jesuit for a 3-1 victory in MEC women's soccer action at Wheeling Jesuit on Sunday afternoon.

Shepherd improves to 7-6-2 overall, 6-5-2 in conference action, while Wheeling Jesuit falls to 2-10-2, 2-8-2.

The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into the break behind a goal by Jenny Andersen-Sogaard on an assist from Gabby Burchett at the 17:17 mark.

Shepherd tied the game at the 62:47 mark when freshman forward Samantha Leonard scored on pass from sophomore midfielder/forward Taylor Harwood (Capon Bridge, W.Va./Hampshire).

The Rams took the lead when senior forward Kylie Duffin (Ventor, N.J./Holy Spirit) scored on an assist from Harwood at the 70:47 mark.

Shepherd added an insurance goal when freshman midfielder Abby Hoffman (Gardners, Pa./Bermudian Springs) scored an unassisted goal at the 83:11 mark.

Redshirt-freshman netminder Kelsey Rhoderick (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Campbell) (1) and freshman goalkeeper Christi LaBella (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) (2) combined for three saves for the Rams. Hannah Thompson recorded 11 saves for the Cardinals.
 
Shepherd had an 18-4 advantage in shots while corner kicks were even at 3-3.

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 3 p.m. contest.
