Shepherd Women's Soccer Falls to #11 West Virginia Wesleyan

Box Score BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Shepherd University dropped a 4-0 decision to 11th-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan in MEC women's soccer action at West Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday.

Shepherd falls to 7-7-2 overall, 6-6-2 in conference action, while West Virginia Wesleyan improves to 14-0-2, 12-0-2.

West Virginia Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead at the 34:42 mark when Rachel Ritchey scored on assists from Hannah Gurtis and Laura Hill.

The Bobcats added a goal less than a minute later when Gurtis scored on an assist from Emily Blake.

Wesleyan took a 3-0 lead into the break as Keenan Moreta scored on a feed from Natalie Parker at the 44:44 mark.

Blake later scored on a fed from Kristi Dalton at the 63:33 mark to close out the scoring.

Freshman goalkeeper Christi Labella (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) (5) and redshirt-freshman netminder Kelsey Rhoderick (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Campbell) (2) combined for seven saves for the Rams. Hillary DeWitt recorded four saves for the Bobcats.
 
West Virginia Wesleyan had a 21-5 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action next Wednesday when they host University of Charleston for a noon
contest.
