Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Fairmont State held off Shepherd University for a 3-2 win in MEC volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Tuesday night. The Falcons gained a 25-23, 19-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-12 victory.

Shepherd falls to 8-8 overall, 3-1 in conference play, while Fairmont State improves to 12-5, 4-0.

Junior outside hitter/right side Grace Simmons (Centreville, Va./Centreville/Fairfield) recorded 11 kills and senior outside hitter/libero Samantha Scroggins (Plainfield, Ill./Naperville North/Kishwaukee) added nine to lead the Rams.

Freshman setter Cyera Dixon (Rushville, Ohio/Fairfield Union) contributed 36 assists and eight digs and sophomore libero/defensive specialist Kelsey Anderson (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) had a team-best 18 digs.

Scroggins added 13 digs, while senior outside hitter Taylor Allen (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) posted 13 digs. Freshman defensive specialist Allison Crumling (York, Pa./Eastern York) recorded four aces.

Mackenzie Harrison had 15 kills and Courtney Kress added 12 for the Falcons. Megan Cierco had a match-high 20 digs.

The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Wheeling Jesuit for a 7 p.m. match.
