Shepherd Volleyball Downed by Sixth-Ranked Wheeling Jesuit

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sixth-ranked Wheeling Jesuit handed Shepherd University a 3-0 setback in MEC volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Friday night. The Cardinals gained a 25-13, 25-9, 25-11 victory.

Shepherd falls to 8-9 overall, 3-2 in conference play, while Wheeling Jesuit improves to 17-3, 5-0.

Junior outside hitter/right side Grace Simmons (Centreville, Va./Centreville/Fairfield) recorded six kills for the Rams, while senior outside hitter Taylor Allen (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) and sophomore middle hitter Christine Jackson (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) each added five.

Senior outside hitter/libero Samantha Scroggins (Plainfield, Ill./Naperville North/Kishwaukee) recorded nine digs and freshman defensive specialist Allison Crumling (York, Pa./Eastern York) had seven. Freshman setter Cyera Dixon (Rushville, Ohio/Fairfield Union) contributed 18 assists.

Kayce Krucki had 13 kills and Courtney Kress added 12 digs for the Cardinals. Jessica Thobe had a match-high 18 digs.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host West Liberty for a 1 p.m. match.
