Shepherd Women's Soccer Rallies to Tie Urbana

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University rallied to gain a 2-2 tie with Urbana in MEC women's soccer action at Shepherd on Wednesday. The game was called after the first overtime session due to darkness.

Shepherd improves to 7-7-4 overall, 6-6-4 in conference action, while Urbana is now 9-3-5, 8-3-4.
Urbana took a 1-0 lead into the break behind a goal by Monica Tenorio on an assist by Savannah Thomas at the 14:34 mark.

Shepherd tied the game when freshman forward Samantha Leonard (Conowingo, Md.Perryville/Wingate) scored on scored on an assist by sophomore midfielder/defender Taylor Harwood (Capon Bridge, W.Va./Hampshire) at the 51:46 mark.

Urbana took a 2-1 lead when Hannah Rembach scored on a feed from Thomas at the 68:51 mark.
Shepherd tied the game on a goal by sophomore defender Regan Stout (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) on an assist by Leonard at the 85:05 mark.

Shepherd was a player short in the latter part of the contest after losing a player to a red card at the 75:40 mark.

Freshman goalkeeper Christi Labella (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) (2) and redshirt-freshman netminder Kelsey Rhoderick (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Campbell) (6) and combined for nine saves for the Rams. Taylor Gianangeli recorded six saves for the Blue Knights.
 
Urbana had a 19-18 edge in shots, while Shepherd had a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to face West Virginia Wesleyan at 3 p.m. in semifinal action of the MEC Tournament.
