Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior guard Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) hit a tip-in at the buzzer to lift Shepherd University to an 89-87 win over Clarion University in men's basketball action in the Clarion Hotel Conference Challenge at the Butcher Center on Sunday.

Shepherd moves to 2-0, while Clarion falls to 0-2.

Senior forward Ryan McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Bridgton Academy) led the Rams with 24 points. Freshman guard Marcus Adkison (Annandale, Va./St. Andrew's Episcopal) added 20 points – fueled by a 10-for-10 effort at the foul line.

Sophomore guard Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) tossed in 18 points behind a 4-of-10 effort from beyond the arc. He also had four assists. Muhammad added 13 points and tied junior forward Mike Reed (Abington, Md./Patterson Mill) for team-high rebounding honors with six. Sophomore guard Skyler Roman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) handed out a team-high five assists.

Andre' Anthony scored 24 points to lead the Golden Eagles. BJ Andrews and Rob Agurs each added 20 points.

Adkison drained a three-pointer with 33 seconds left in regulation to give the Rams an 87-84 lead. Anthony answered back for Clarion with a trey with 21 seconds remaining to tie the game. Muhammad tipped in Adkison's miss at the buzzer for the game-winner.

Shepherd shot 45.2 percent (28-62) from the floor with a 50 percent (12-24) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 21-of-25 free throws (84 percent). Clarion shot 50 percent (32-64) from the floor with a 31.8 percent (7-22) effort from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles hit 16-of-25 (64 percent) free throws.

Clarion had a 41-34 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 12 turnovers and committed 10.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Davis & Elkins for a 7:30 p.m. game.
