Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.  – Jordan Payne had 22 points and 17 rebounds to lead Chowan to a 72-57 win over Shepherd University in women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday.

Shepherd falls to 0-3, while Chowan improves to 2-1.

Payne connected on 10-of-16 shots from the floor and was 2-of-3 from the foul line.

Sophomore guard Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) scored 13 points and handed out four assists to lead the Rams. Freshman guard Kristen Nunn (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) added 12 points, while freshman guard Kari Lankford (York, Pa./West York Area) added nine points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

Junior forward Liz Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) grabbed nine boards and added six points.

Alisha Mobley had 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Danielle Weldon had 13 points and seven boards for the Hawks.

The Rams connected 35.2 percent (19-54) from the floor with a 22.2 percent (2-9) effort from three-point range. Shepherd hit on 73.9 percent of its free throws (17-23). Chowan hit on 36.4 percent (28-77) of its field goals with a 11.1 percent (1-9) effort from beyond the arc. The Hawks drained 53.6 percent (15-28) of their free throws.

Chowan had a 59-34 advantage in rebounding. Shepherd forced 12 turnovers and committed 14.

Shepherd returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Glenville State for a 2 p.m. contest.
