Shepherd Volleyball Falls to #12 Wheeling Jesuit in MEC Tournament Semifinals

Box Score WHEELING, W.Va. – Shepherd University fell to 12th-ranked Wheeling Jesuit in three sets in semifinal action in MEC Volleyball Tournament at Wheeling Jesuit on Thursday night. The Cardinals recorded a 25-10, 25-13, 25-13 victory.

Fifth-seeded Shepherd completes its season at 16-17, while top-seeded Wheeling Jesuit improves to 32-4.

Junior outside hitter/right side Grace Simmons (Centreville, Va./Centreville/Fairfield) had eight kills and senior outside hitter Taylor Allen (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) added seven for the Rams.

Sophomore libero/defensive specialist Kelsey Anderson (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) contributed nine digs, while Allen and senior outside hitter/libero Samantha Scroggins (Plainfield, Ill./Naperville North/Kishwaukee) each had five.

Freshmen setter Cyera Dixon (Rushville, Ohio/Fairfield Union) recorded 21 assists.

Kayce Krucki had 11 kills and Lauran Graves added eight to lead the Cardinals. Andrea Thobe recorded 35 assists and five digs, while Jessica Thobe added a match-high 14 digs.

Wheeling Jesuit advances to the final round of the MEC Tournament on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. when they face second-seeded Fairmont State.
