Shepherd Men Fall at Glenville State

Box Score GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Jalon Plummer scored a game-high 29 points to lead Glenville State to a 96-91 win over Shepherd University in MEC men's basketball action at Glenville State on Saturday.
 
Shepherd falls to 3-1, 0-1 in conference play, while Glenville State improves to 2-2, 1-0
 
Plummer connected on 11-of-20 field goals with a 4-of-12 effort from beyond the arc. He was 3-of-3 from the foul line.
 
Freshman guard Marcus Adkison (Annandale, Va./St. Andrew's Episcopal) led the Rams with 22 points – fueled by a 10-of-11 effort from the charity stripe. Senior forward Ryan McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Bridgton Academy) poured in 17 points, while sophomore guard Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) had 16.
 
Freshman forward Winston Burgess (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Skyler Roman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) had 12 points and five assists.
 
Shepherd held an 88-83 left with 2:42 left to play, but Glenville State closed the game on a 13-3 run to gain the win.
 
Brett Morris added 19 points and nine rebounds for the Senators. Micha Thomas had 16 points and Brien Winston added 10.
 
Shepherd shot 40.3 percent (27-67) from the floor with a 28.6 percent (6-21) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 31-of-36 free throws (86.1 percent). Glenville State shot 47.1 percent (32-68) from the floor with a 32.4 percent (11-34) effort from beyond the arc. The Pioneers hit 21-of-31 (67.7 percent) free throws.
 
Shepherd had a 48-37 edge on the boards. The Rams forced eight turnovers and committed 14.
 
The Rams return to action on Monday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a 7:30 p.m. game.
