Shepherd Women Downed by Glenville State in MEC Opener

Box Score GLENVILLE, W.Va.  – Paris McLeod had 23 points and 13 assists to lead Glenville State to a 108-82 win over Shepherd University in MEC women's basketball action at Glenville State on Saturday.

Shepherd falls to 0-4, 0-1 in MEC play, while Glenville State improves to 2-1, 1-0.

Payne connected on 8-of-15 shots from the floor with a 3-of-7 effort from three-point range. She hit on 4-of-7 shots from the foul line.

Sophomore guard Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Rams. She added three assists and a steal.

Junior forward Liz Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) also recorded a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman guard Kristen Nunn (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) added 12 points, while junior guard Cara Mason (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) contributed eight points and seven assists.

Julie Bishop had 13 points for the Pioneers. La'Shaughn Jones had 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Rams connected on 36.3 percent (29-70) from the floor with a 28.6 percent (2-7) effort from three-point range. Shepherd hit on 78.6 percent of its free throws (22-28). Glenville State hit on 39 percent (39-100) of its field goals with a 32.1 percent (17-53) effort from beyond the arc. The Pioneers hit on 59.1 percent (13-22) of their free throws.

Glenville State had a 63-61 edge in rebounding. Shepherd forced 13 turnovers and committed 23.

The Rams to action on Monday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
