Box Score FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Shepherd University fell to Fairmont State in five sets in MEC volleyball action at Fairmont on Tuesday night. The Falcons gained a 22-25, 29-27, 18-25, 25-17, 15-10 victory.
Shepherd falls to 12-14 overall, 7-6 in MEC action, while Fairmont State improves to 20-7, 11-2.
Sophomore outside hitter
Amanda Snowden (Hagerstown, Md./Smithsburg/Frostburg State) and freshman middle blocker/right side
Sophie Foster (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) led the Rams with 12 kills apiece. Tucker also provided a match-high high six blocks (three solo).
Senior outside hitter/libero
Samantha Scroggins (Plainfield, Ill./Naperville North/Kishwaukee) had 11 kills, 11 digs, five blocks, and three aces. Junior outside hitter/right side
Grace Simmons (Centreville, Va./Centreville/Fairfield) had 11 kills, while sophomore middle hitter
Christine Jackson (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) added 10.
Freshmen setter
Cyera Dixon (Rushville, Ohio/Fairfield Union) posted 49 assists and had 13 digs. Sophomore libero/defensive specialist
Kelsey Anderson (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) recorded a team-high 21 digs and senior outside hitter/opposite
Anna Roper (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Huntingtown) had 19.
Erin Harwood had 14 kills, while Mackenzie Harrison and Courtney Kress each had 13 for the Falcons. Megan Clerico added a match-high 23 digs.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 7 p.m. match.
