Shepherd Women Fall to #13 California (Pa.)

Box Score CALIFORNIA, Pa.  – Shatara Parsons had 15 points and a game-high 19 rebounds to lead 13th-ranked California (Pa.) to a 75-59 win over Shepherd University in women's basketball action at California (Pa.) on Sunday.

Shepherd falls to 2-7, while California (Pa.) improves to 8-1.

Sophomore guard Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) scored a game-high18 points to lead the Rams. She connected on 7-of-16 field goals with a 2-of-5 effort from three-point range. She was 2-of-4 from the foul line.

Junior forward Liz Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) posted a double-double with 17 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Freshman guard Kari Lankford (York, Pa./West York Area) contributed six points, eight boards, and a team-high three steals.
 
Precious Martin added 14 points and nine boards, while Seairra Barrett had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Vulcans.

The Rams connected on 42 percent (21-50) from the floor with a 40 percent (4-10) effort from three-point range. Shepherd hit on 59.1 percent of its free throws (13-22). Cal hit on 37 percent (27-73) of its field goals with a 37.5 percent (6-16) effort from beyond the arc. The Vulcans were successful on 60 percent (15-25) of their free throws.

California (Pa.) had a 47-37 advantage in rebounding. Shepherd forced 15 turnovers and committed 24.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Liberty University for a noon exhibition contest.
