Carr Leads Shepherd Men Past Davis & Elkins

Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – Sophomore forward AJ Carr (Fairfax, Va./Saint James School) scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead to lead Shepherd University to a 96-79 win over Davis & Elkins in men's basketball action at Davis & Elkins on Wednesday.

Shepherd improves to 5-4 overall, while Davis & Elkins falls to 4-6.
 
Carr hit on11-of-17 field goals with a 5-of-7 effort from three-point range. He was 2-of-2 from the foul line. He also dished out three assists.

Senior forward Ryan McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Bridgton Academy) added 19 points, while sophomore guard Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) tossed in 14.

Sophomore guard Skyler Roman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) contributed 12 points and tied junior guard Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) with a team-high seven assists.

Kevin Bracy-Davis had a game-high 36 points to lead the Senators. Wesley Sprinkle added 17 points.

Shepherd had a 45-32 advantage at the break behind 22 first half points from Carr.

Shepherd shot 55.7 percent (36-61) from the floor with a 50 percent (16-32) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 12-of-18 free throws (66.7 percent). Davis & Elkins shot 36.5 percent (29-59) from the floor with a 17.2 percent (5-29) effort from beyond the arc. The Raiders hit 10-of-12 free throws (83.3 percent).

Davis & Elkins had a 46-32 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced nine turnovers and committed just six.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Alderson-Broaddus for a 4 p.m. game.
