Shepherd Women Fall to #19 West Liberty

Box Score WEST LIBERTY, W.Va.  – Liz Flowers scored a game-high 30 points to lead 19th-ranked West Liberty to a 97-78 win over Shepherd University in MEC women's basketball action at West Liberty on Thursday.

Shepherd falls to 2-5, 1-2 in conference play, while West Liberty improves to 6-1, 3-0.

Sophomore guard Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) led the Rams with 23 points. Freshman guard Kristen Nunn (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) added 18 points.

Junior forward Liz Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Junior guard Cara Mason (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) tossed in 10 points.

Kailee Howe added 16 points and 16 assists for the Hilltoppers. Kierra Simpson contributed 13 points and 17 rebounds.

The Rams connected on 40 percent (30-75) from the floor with a 40 percent (6-15) effort from three-point range. Shepherd hit on 60 percent of its free throws (12-20). West Liberty hit on 49.3 percent (34-69) of its field goals with a 40.9 percent (9-22) effort from beyond the arc. The Hilltoppers were successful on 80 percent (20-25) of their free throws.

West Liberty had a 47-38 edge in rebounding. Shepherd forced 16 turnovers and committed 11.

The Rams to action on Saturday when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a noon contest.
