Wheeling Jesuit Downs Shepherd Women

Box Score WHEELING, W.Va.  – Jaila Bryant had 20 points and Jaana Motton added 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead Wheeling Jesuit to a 73-68 win over Shepherd University in MEC women's basketball action at Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday.

Shepherd falls to 2-6, 1-3 in conference play, while Wheeling Jesuit improves to 6-1, 4-0.

Sophomore guard Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) scored  a game-high 22 points to lead the Rams. She connected on 8-of-20 field goals with a 5-of-8 effort from three-point range. Arden was 1-of-2 from the foul line.
 
Freshman guard Kristen Nunn (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) added 17 points.

Mariah Callen added 11 points and six boards, while Kylie Frizzell had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Cardinals.

The Rams connected on 44.8 percent (26-58) from the floor with a 55.6 percent (10-18) effort from three-point range. Shepherd hit on 46.2 percent of its free throws (6-13). Wheeling Jesuit hit on 38.3 percent (23-60) of its field goals with a 25 percent (3-12) effort from beyond the arc. The Cardinals were successful on 70.6 percent (24-34) of their free throws.

Wheeling Jesuit had a 45-31 advantage in rebounding. Shepherd forced 18 turnovers and committed 20.

The Rams return to action on Dec. 13 when they travel to California (Pa.) for a 2 p.m. contest.
