Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Segar Bonifant scored a game-high 20 points to lead eighth-ranked West Liberty to a 98-87 win over Shepherd University in MEC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Thursday night.
Four Hilltoppers starters hit for double figures as Indiana Faithfull added 17 points, Devin Hoehn had 15, while Joe Lococo tossed in 15 and added game-highs of five assists and five steals.
Sophomore guard
Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) paced the Rams with 15 points. Senior forward
Morgan McDonald (Inwood, WV/Musselman) and forward
Gavin McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Bridgton Academy) each fired in 13, while freshman guard
Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) had 12. McDonald also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

AJ Carr (Fairfax, Va./St. James School) was also in double figures with 10 points.
West Liberty had a 49-39 lead at the break as Bonifant (13) and Faithfull (10) combined for 23 first half points.
The Hilltoppers opened up the second half on a 7-0 run to take a 17-point advantage and the Rams were unable to recover.
Shepherd hit on 32-of-67 field goals (47.8 percent) with a 9-of-22 effort (40.9 percent) effort from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 14-of-19 free throws (73.7 percent).
West Liberty connected on 38-of-63 field goals (60.3 percent) with a 6-of-19 effort (31.6 percent) from beyond the arc. The Hilltoppers were 16-of-20 from the foul line (80 percent).
Shepherd had a 38-23 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 13 turnovers and committed 20.
Shepherd falls to 13-11, 8-10 in MEC play, while #8 West Liberty improves to 21-2, 17-2. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a 4 p.m. contest.
